Preguntas frecuentes
Answered from the spec sheet and the positions above, never from the meters.
Is this the full Bible text?
Yes. It carries the complete NIV text, with the study notes at the bottom of each page and the articles, maps and charts around it.
Which translation is it based on?
The New International Version, in Biblica’s 2011 text. The NIV listing describes its textual basis and the gender language dispute; the study notes are Zondervan’s, not part of the translation.
Who wrote the notes?
Kenneth L. Barker is general editor, with Mark L. Strauss, Jeannine K. Brown and Craig L. Blomberg. The publisher says a committee of current and former NIV translators revised every note and article for the 2020 edition; it publishes no count of contributors.
Is it word for word?
No. The base text, the NIV, aims at a blend of closeness to the original wording and clarity of meaning, between word-for-word and thought-for-thought. The literal-to-idiomatic meter shows where readers place its feel.
Which edition is current?
The Fully Revised Edition of 2020. The first edition appeared in 1985; the publisher names no other editions on the pages checked, so reviews of older printings may describe earlier notes.
