The publisher states that the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India approved the ESV Catholic Edition on February 4, 2018, and that Cardinal Oswald Gracias granted the imprimatur.

Lectionary approved
The publisher states that the Vatican approved the ESV Catholic Edition Lectionary on December 9, 2019, and that it is mandated for liturgical use throughout India from Palm Sunday 2020.
Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales November 2018
Adopted for the Lectionary
The bishops of England and Wales agreed in November 2018 that the ESV Catholic Edition, produced by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India with Crossway, should be the basis of their new Lectionary.

Adopted for the Lectionary
The Bishops' Conference of Scotland announced in July 2020 that it had also chosen the ESV Catholic Edition for its Lectionary, as the bishops of England and Wales report.

Is it word for word?
Yes by the publisher’s description: it seeks to reproduce the precise wording of the original rather than a thought-for-thought rendering. The literal-to-idiomatic meter shows where readers place its feel.
What text is it based on?
The ESV text, which the ESV preface says follows the Masoretic text in Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia and the UBS 5th and Nestle-Aland 28th Greek editions, with the deuterocanonical books added and changes by Catholic scholars in India.
