The standing questions
Answered from the spec sheet and the positions above, never from the meters.
Is it word for word?
Yes by the publisher’s own description: a literal, formal-equivalent update of the NASB that aims to render the same original words the same way. The literal-to-idiomatic meter above shows where readers place its feel.
What text is it based on?
Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia for the Old Testament, and the Nestle-Aland 27th edition, supplemented by the 28th in the General Epistles, for the New Testament; the English starts from the 1995 NASB.
Are verses missing?
No verses are dropped. Verses absent from the earliest manuscripts, such as Matthew 17:21, are printed in the text in brackets with a footnote saying early manuscripts omit them, as the 1995 NASB did.
Why does it say Yahweh?
The publisher renders God’s covenant name as Yahweh instead of LORD, saying Exodus 3:14 to 15 shows God wanted his people to know his name; it appears more than 6,800 times in the Old Testament.
How is it different from the NASB?
The publisher lists three main differences from the 1995 NASB: Yahweh for the divine name and “slave” for the Greek doulos, more consistent word choices and grammar, and original weights, measures and currency with conversions in notes.
How does it handle gender language?
The foreword says it does not add phrases such as “and sisters” because they are not in the original text; it keeps the gender of the source wording.
