Verses in footnotes
Some verses printed in the Reina-Valera 1960, such as Acts 8:37, appear in NTV footnotes rather than the main text, because the NTV follows the United Bible Societies and Nestle-Aland Greek text. Readers who hold to the Textus Receptus regard this as an omission; the publisher says these editions represent the best of modern textual research and that the notes record the manuscripts that add the words.

The standing questions
Answered from the spec sheet and the positions above, never from the meters.
Is it word for word?
No. The publisher says it combines formal equivalence and dynamic equivalence, following the New Living Translation’s approach. The literal-to-idiomatic meter above shows where readers place its feel.
What text is it based on?
The Masoretic Text as printed in Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia for the Old Testament, and the United Bible Societies and Nestle-Aland Greek editions for the New Testament.
Are verses missing?
Some verses printed in the Reina-Valera 1960 appear in footnotes instead of the main text, because the NTV follows a different Greek text. The text is complete by its own textual basis.
Is it approved for Catholic use?
No. It has the 66-book Protestant canon and no imprimatur. For Spanish editions with Catholic approval, see the Biblia de Jerusalén and the Biblia Latinoamérica.
Who translated it?
A team of translators, consultants, style editors and biblical-language scholars from eight countries, led by Rafael Serrano and Jaime Mirón, working from 2001 to 2010 under Tyndale House Publishers.
How does it handle gender language?
The translators say they aimed for gender-precise rather than gender-neutral language, and sometimes use the plural where a passage applies to people in general. The disputes panel is where disagreement would be described; none is recorded here.
